Dunquin Pier Dingle Peninsula
Dunquin Pier, or Cé Dhún Chaoin, is a stunning, iconic pier on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry. It is famous for its steep, winding, zigzagging pathway that descends a dramatic cliffside to the Atlantic Ocean. A stop on the scenic Slea Head Drive, the pier offers incredible views of the Blasket Islands and the rugged coastline. Gateway to the Blaskets, for centuries, the pier was the vital connection point between the mainland and the remote Great Blasket Island, which was inhabited until 1953. Islanders would transport people, sheep, supplies, and even coffins to and from the mainland.
